✨ This is part of a series designed to help you prepare for an amazing 2025. ✨
As I sat in a stone circle recently, pondering the broad strokes of my life, this is one thing I thought about.
☹️ What drains you? Frustrates you? Aggravates you? Annoys you? Makes you feel incompetent? Scares you?
Some of those things are opportunities to grow. Others are just needlessly ruining your peace. Let’s identify them.
❌ Is it time with certain family members?
❌ Certain hobbies that no longer delight you?
❌ Certain habits that drain you, or don’t enrich your life?
❌ Specific tasks?
❌ Entire arms of your business?
First, identify what you need less of. Then, for bonus points, use the next prompt 👇 to ponder what to do about them.
Bonus prompt: How can you have less of these things?
They might be things you can simply get rid of.
📺 For me, it came to me that I want to watch less television. To that end, I’ve made my last-thing-at-night unwinding time primarily be reading a novel, instead of watching television.
📚 If you’ve been following along my business journey, you’ll also know that I’ve stopped offering bookkeeping in my business as a way to ditch something that’s no longer working for me.
This will look different for each of us.
We won’t be able to ditch everything that annoys us. Sometimes we’ll just need to see how we can lessen it.
🚂 Perhaps the commute irritates you – can you work remotely more often?
📣 Perhaps your family member abuses you, but you can’t yet cut ties entirely – can you spend less time with them?
🚬 Perhaps smoking no longer brings you joy, but you don’t seem to be able to quit – can you cut back?
Some things on your list could be opportunities for growth.
🎓 Perhaps you’re nervous about the legals related to your business – can you find relevant training courses so that you’re better informed?
⏱ Perhaps you find it a challenge to stay on task – have you tried the Pomodoro technique? If so, can you find one of the myriad other time management techniques and try that one next?
🤝 Perhaps an arm of your business no longer delights you, but you know it helps your customers – could you find a business partner to bring in to run that part for you?
Use this prompt to help you clear the clutter from your daily life.
Why and How to Use These Prompts
Getting into a better place in thinking about money is a vital first step to facing our numbers and then doing something to better them - all the stuff I'm here to help you with.
Use these prompts to gently explore your feelings about money at your own pace. Remember, the point is to dig beneath the surface for yourself.
Brew up a cuppa, put on some chill music, light a candle or incense, get a notebook and pen, and give it a go. Consider setting a timer for just 15 minutes and write whatever comes into your head.
For some prompts, you might prefer to meditate on them instead. Or ponder them whilst doing the washing up or walking the dog. Or you might want to talk them through with a trusted friend. Do whatever works for you to help you get to a better money mindset.
